Introduction
The E-SYLHET.COM has a long tradition of co-operation and
partnership. Since it was established much has been achieved
in terms of co-operative activity and there are well-established
co-operative services and schemes in all its departments, together
with a wide range of new initiatives under development with partners.
The main partnership arrangements up to the end of last year were:
- the "virtual" servers which support the e-Sylhet's remote
server services;
- the development of websites in collaboration with national and
international companies sharing the work load according to field of
expertise;
- and working with international organisations to implement
internet technology for advancement in communication and
interaction.
The need for co-operation
Within the technology and information sector there is a growing
awareness that organisations must work together to optimise the use of
resources. With the continuing increase in the demand for publishing electronically, no
one company is now able to meet the existing and potential information
needs of all its users both in terms of human resources and technology
infrastructure.
As a result of this renewed emphasis on co-operation, and to
strengthen its commitment to working in partnership with others in the
technology and information sector, e-Sylhet.com established a Co-operation
and Partnership Programme, with a team of three. The role of this team is to define
and develop the programme of co-operation and partnership in the key
areas mentioned; to co-ordinate existing and new e-Sylhet.com co-operative
activities, working with colleagues in the relevant operational areas;
to provide an external focus and point of contact relating to
co-operation and to administer a newly created fund to support
co-operative and partnership initiatives.
The e-Sylhet.com Co-operation and Partnership Programme
encourages and facilitates partnerships and collaborative activity in
the key areas of universal access, development, cutting edge
technology transfers and
retention, group exposure and greater understanding.
